OcuPlan is delighted to announce that we have been acquired by Carl Zeiss Vision UK. ZEISS is a global leader in optics, with 180 years of experience and a rich heritage of innovation.
For the past 5 years, OcuPlan has improved access to private eye care for thousands of patients in the West Midlands. It helps optometrists and eye consultants work together to care for patients in a cost-effective way. We are extremely proud of this next step forward with ZEISS and hope to scale OcuPlan around the UK. Our underlying motto is ‘Eye Care, We Care’, and together with ZEISS we can help patients manage their long-term medical eye problems in an affordable and sustainable way.

What it means for our customers
For our valued OcuPlan customers, absolutely nothing changes regarding existing provision of care or cost. They will continue to see their optometrist and ophthalmologist at the same regular frequency. Whilst there will be some administrative changes as a result of this change, we want to assure our customers that there will be no disruption to the services they receive. The continued care and management of customer eye conditions are of paramount importance to us.
What it means for you
For the eye care professionals working in the OcuPlan network across optometry and ophthalmology, absolutely nothing changes for them either. They will continue to refer patients or receive patients who are OcuPlan customers. In time, we plan to increase the coverage of OcuPlan through opticians' practices, and provide affordable, high-quality eye care from members’ chosen eye care professionals.
Who are ZEISS
Founded in Germany in 1846, they currently operate in 50 countries with over 45,000 employees. Their mission is to protect and improve the vision and lifetime visual health of consumers. As a market leading lens manufacturer, ZEISS continues to invest in premium spectacle lenses, and as a foundation, a proportion of their revenues are always reinvested into visual health solutions. Their UK division is based in Birmingham, and they bring decades of excellence to the UK optical market.
Future plans
ZEISS are committed to the continued success of OcuPlan and they have worked with us so that all services continue uninterrupted. OcuPlan will soon be made available to more opticians' practices across the UK, leveraging the ZEISS eye care network of opticians. This will increase our ability to provide timely clinical reassurance and regular monitoring of long-term eye conditions.
We look forward to the continued success of OcuPlan with scale and ambition that ZEISS are able to bring.
